The Alexsan Resource Centre today is one of the country's leading examples of multi-purpose use, offering a range of services to the community. It is a focal point for the people of Alexandra and serves as a beacon of hope for many communities throughout South Africa and further
afield.
Through its dedicated initiatives the management is receiving interest from both national and international authorities. There is optimism that the Alexsan model will be implemented in other communities in South Africa leading to a significant contribution to self empowerment, skills training, employment opportunities and self pride, vital ingredients for the development of the South African democratic model.
The centre provides a home to a number of service
organisations as well as running projects itself, such as the library, careers guidance, youth office, jointly run counselling office, computer studios, and a variety of ad hoc training programmes.
With its sub-divisible hall, library facilities, amphitheatre, activity rooms and offices, operations such as: the Alex Satellite Clinic, ALXFM Community Radio, Alex Chamber of Commerce, Life Line, Kelly Permanent and Temp Employment Agency, Electricity, Rates and Pension pay points, are all able to offer the community a wide range of services.
