Overview
We are now in the second reporting period where the City of Johannesburg has worked with the community in maintaining the Alexsan Resource Centre. The Centre is still a focal point in Alexandra community life and a central gathering place for a variety of activities and events.
The Private Public Partnership agreement with the City was signed during this financial year with the Educational Trust Trustees. During the coming year the roles of the Educational Trust and the Kopano Trust will be further defined. The Kopano Trust will be looking after the Centre, centre assets and also the library. The Educational Trust will be focusing on ongoing community development and projects, with the computer studios remaining with the Educational Trust.
We would like to say a big "thank you" to the City of Johannesburg for entering into this Private Public Partnership and assisting the community in keeping the doors of this valuable asset open. It has also enabled us to focus on spending our time more constructively in development on a local, provincial and national level.
Our warm thanks go to our ongoing project funders being the EED Germany, Cummins Corporation, Toyota South Africa, Sasol and the Anglo American and De Beers Chairman's Fund. UNESCO for choosing us to pilot and lead a virtual reality project for Southern Africa. The Royal Netherlands Embassy whose project funding finally came to a close after five years of special investment aimed towards our youth.
It has been a year of further growth and each manager will share their activities in their own sections below.
